Tips for Moving:
Know where you are moving to- You should have all the research done before moving to a new place, whether it’s still in the same city or moving to a new state. You will need to know what the seasons are like there so you know what clothing you will need/ won’t need.
Have a system planned out- It’s better to have your own personal system for doing things that will work for you. It’s always good to start off by throwing away junk and trash and donating the things you won’t need anymore. You can donate to some local places (Goodwill, Salvation Army..Etc.) or even hold a garage sale.
Getting help- It’s always a good idea to ask neighbors and friends to help you pack and move, it’s much cheaper and you get to spend a little more time with them before you leave. If you don’t want to do that, then you can always hire a local business for cheap to help you move.
Have a calendar/ Schedule- It’s always good to have your material items organized but what about the future plans? You can make a day to day schedule on a calendar to make sure your moving process will happen smoothly and on time.
Tips for packing:
Pack boxes correctly- Use smaller boxes for the heavier items, plan out how many boxes you will need, and specify which box is for what. For dishes and other fragile items, make sure the box is sturdy. Always label boxes!
Pack by the room- When packing items into a box, you can pack by the room so everything is kept organized. You can even plan out where in the vehicle the boxes will go so you can fit everything easily and in an orderly fashion.
Packing fragile items and dishes: When packing plates/ glasses, you should put them edge down (vertically) and of course, use bubble wrap for fragile items. If you don’t have bubble wrap you can use towels, left over fabrics, blankets and pillow cases to wrap fragile items/ dishes.
Boxes- When packing clothing and small items, it’s better to use plastic tubs (with lids), you can fold and cram everything into the box without worrying about it breaking.
